Wireless game publisher SkyZone Entertainment today announced that Duke Nukem Mobile 3D will leap onto BREW handsets in full 3D this summer. This next installment of the Duke Nukem Mobile franchise builds upon the positive reception of the initial Duke Nukem Mobile game, which received industry-wide acclaim.

Duke Nukem Mobile 3D was recently featured in the "world tour of mobile games" at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco and was named one of GameSpot's "Most Anticipated Games for 2005."

Duke Nukem Mobile 3D was developed by Machineworks NorthWest and is based on the original Duke Nukem first person shooter for PCs, which sold millions of copies.

"Great 3D games for mobile phones are no longer a far off hope for the future. They're here today," said James Wee, executive vice president for SkyZone Entertainment. "This is the first of many fantastic, high-quality 3D games that SkyZone will be announcing this year."

"Machineworks continues to deliver in a way that makes Duke proud, by continuously creating cutting-edge, fun games on emerging hand-held platforms," said Scott Miller, chief executive officer for 3D Realms Entertainment, owner of the Duke Nukem brand.

"Machineworks will continue to strive to be a forerunner in the mobile 3D realm," said Andre Vasen, general manager for Machineworks. "Working with an impressive and quality-driven mobile publisher like SkyZone, and developing for QUALCOMM's BREW solution, makes this process a lot easier."

"The fact that companies like Skyzone and Machineworks are bringing familiar gaming titles, developed for the BREW solution, to mobile handsets provides further proof that mobile gaming is gaining popularity and becoming a viable market," said Mike Yuen, director, Gaming Group for QUALCOMM Internet Services. "QUALCOMM's BREW solution is enabling the development and creation of tried-and-true mobile games in 3D, which ultimately delivers a richer and more compelling gaming experience."

QUALCOMM's BREW solution is designed to meet the distinct and varied needs of wireless operators, handset manufacturers, publishers, developers and end users around the world. BREW products and services include: an open, extensible client platform that supports robust system and application software including personalized and branded user interfaces for mass market devices; a J2EE(TM)-based, modular delivery system that enables the distribution of content, applications and user interfaces to wireless devices across all air interfaces; a dedicated professional services team that supports the integration of customized implementations; and the wireless industry's first global marketplace to support the monetization of applications and services developed in all programming languages. The BREW solution can make the wireless visions of innovative companies a reality.
