Actify Inc., the worldwide leader in client-server digital design communication solutions, with over 8,000 customer companies throughout the high technology, automotive, aerospace, industrial automation and discrete manufacturing industries, today confirmed that Universal 3D (U3D) supported PDF files -- a format created and supported by the 3D Industry Forum (3DIF) -- can be created by a "one button" operation through the SpinFire for Microsoft Office software solution. Closely integrated with Tracker Software product PDF-XChange, the creation of the 3D interactive PDF file is available from a button on the Office toolbar. A trial version of Tracker's PDF-XChange is embedded in SpinFire for Microsoft Office and available to all users.

"As we progress with the adoption of U3D, it is gratifying as the chair of 3D Industry Forum (3DIF) to see Actify addressing key business process issues with the inclusion of U3D in their SpinFire product," said Richard Benoit, U3D Program Manager and Chair of 3DIF. "With the inclusion of U3D in the SpinFire product and its interaction with Microsoft Office suite of products, this further illustrates the end users desire to have access to 3D data. The access to this 3D data through such a common interface will elevate customer service, maintenance, training, simulation and other usage models to new levels of information flow."

"The Tracker created PDF technology allows for faster and more compressed PDFs than those created by Adobe's Acrobat. Imbedding 2D and 3D files into PDF documents allows manufacturers to continue using PDF as their preferred archive format of choice while allowing them to strengthen communications abilities of their 3D models amongst knowledge workers throughout their organization and supply chain." said John Verbeeten, President and CEO of Tracker Software. "Providing information workers access to multiple 2D and 3D file formats, while giving them the ability to repurpose that 2D and 3D data to communicate and collaborate, will make the product development process more efficient, bringing products to market faster and at a lesser cost."

"This announcement supports Actify's goal to deliver enterprise wide Digital Design Communications solutions that enable the repurposing of 3D and 2D design data for use in sales and marketing documentation, technical publications, supplier collaboration materials, and service and customer support communications," said Randy Ochs, president and CEO of Actify Inc. "We continue to support all the major industry file formats that will facilitate this and meet the needs of our marketplace. Information workers can now, with SpinFire for Microsoft Office, embed 3D and 2D design data in their Office documents, and output to PDF 1.6 containing the interactive U3D format, delivering 3D & 2D design content in a familiar format."
